Moving Dynamics 365 Marketing Forms Between Environments: What You Need to Know

🚨Problem Statement

When migrating Marketing Forms in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys from Source → Target , you may encounter a critical issue:

Form responses continue to be submitted to the DEV environment, even though the form appears to be successfully migrated.

This can be confusing because:

Forms open correctly in the target environment

Configuration changes work without errors

Everything appears to be functioning as expected

…but the data submission is still incorrect.


🧰Tools Used for Migration

In this scenario, the following tools were used:

Configuration Migration Tool

Data Transporter

Even when using these standard tools, this issue can still occur.


🔍Root Cause of the Issue

In Dynamics 365:

Marketing Pages/Forms are not standalone entities

They depend on Standalone Form components

When you create a Marketing Page:

✔ A plugin automatically creates a corresponding Standalone Form


What Goes Wrong During Migration

Marketing Page gets migrated successfully ✅

Standalone Form continues pointing to the source (DEV) environment ❌

👉 Result:

Form submissions are routed to the wrong environment, causing data inconsistencies.


💡 Recommended Workaround (Fix)

While exporting data using:

Configuration Migration Tool

OR Data Transporter

Do NOT include the following columns:

Standalone Page HTML

Standalone Page Publish Status


🔄 Steps to Fix in Target Environment

After importing into UAT or PROD:

Open the Marketing Form or Page

Click Publish

👉 You will see a prompt:

“Do you want to create a standalone page?”

✔ Select Yes
